The Clutter Problem (Serenity in Decluttering)

June 10, 2024by Jocelyn Hall0

Ever find yourself spinning around in a room full of stuff?  You know – where there’s so much that you have no idea where to start?

Ever want to scream because life be life’n?

It maybe clutter. That overwhelming presence of things that overshadow completeness, order, just may disturb serenity and peace. Extreme clutter is hoarding and even for those who are neat freaks, just a little mess can drive them nuts.

Did you know psychologically clutter increases levels of anxiety, sleeplessness and the inability to focus? Or emotional trauma, depression, chronic pain or grief can cause one to neglect and create clutter?  It’s just not a lot of paper or clothes on the floor – it can manifest in other ways. What needs to be determined is the root of the clutter, the what and why of it all.

I saw on social media reels of people who suffered from ADHD. It was interesting to see the methods they used to stay focused in achieving their daily routines. One suggested to get up in the morning and immediately start the day with a particular goal in mind.  Another suggested always keeping your shoes on as it attests that your day isn’t complete. Their root was their inability to stay focused for long periods of time. However, they are decluttering in the moment.

Decluttering may seem to be foreign when looking at the insurmountable mountain of work and life. What is considered easy for most may in fact be challenging, overwhelming, or make one plunge further into depression or anxiety. However, when looking at the potential benefits, moving towards decluttering one step at a time may be a solution. It may become a habit, and a new way of life. Are you willing to try it to achieve a sense of peace and serenity?

  • Relieve Stress & Anxiety
  • Boost Confidence
  • Increase Productivity
  • Overall Better Health

If you need to pause and revisit some things because it is time for a change, don’t be afraid to do things differently. Challenge yourself to make a decision and take action to declutter your space, life, mind and soul. You deserve it!
