Embracing the New Normal

March 4, 2024by Jocelyn Hall0

Listen,

Change is inevitable.  As long as you have breath, there will be change.  We often find ourselves in situations that alters our pathway – like sickness, death, or divorce that will dominate what we’ve been used to.  They force us to accept change but don’t allow us time to adjust as we have often done in the past.

There was a time I wondered what living a normal life would look like after the death of my son.  Just the day before, I was all giggles looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Within hours my normal was removed with chaos and uncertainty.  Yet somehow after this devastation, I had to walk in a new normal that excluded a lot of assumptions. When they say life is short – believe it.  As much as we want to control all narratives, there are just events in life that will say otherwise.  But do yourself a favor and keep moving.

Give yourself grace.

It is okay to make mistakes.

It is okay to not like anything about life.

It is okay to feel like a fish out of water.

It is okay not to know what to do, how to feel, or how to react.

It is okay to be selfish to save your sanity.

It is okay to do nothing, until you know what to do.

It is okay to say goodbye to the “normal” you had before in order to make way for the new normal.

Your new normal will come and challenge you to find the path again. When you achieve that “good day” – celebrate it! Find ways to repeat moments or search out alternatives to get the YOU back! It’s deserving and well worth getting to know the ways to make life a little sweeter.

Did you know salt on lemons make them tolerable to taste?

I’m praying for you,

~ Auntie Joyce
